Korea's ESG revolution: Green shoots after the pandemic
Warm greetings to you all.

On behalf of The Korea Herald, I would like to express my gratitude to you all for paying keen interest in The Korea Herald Finance and Investment Forum set to be held on Sept. 28, 2021, in Seoul.

The forum takes place at a critical time when South Korea’s financial market is facing both challenges and opportunities from a corporate-wide drive to embrace a new set of value on sustainable development.

Accelerated by the pandemic, sustainable business management focused on environmental, social and corporate governance principles has risen as a new economic paradigm. Capital reallocation to ESG investing is also bringing a seismic shift in global financial markets.

With a strong focus on ESG values, local financial players are scrambling to gain an upper hand in the customer-centered digital transformation by using cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence and metaverse platforms.
I believe that the ESG movement and transition to digital finance would open a new future for the finance and investment industry, and also that such new values and practices would add fresh impetus to Seoul’s long-cherished dream to become Asia’s next financial hub.
Responding to the paradigm shift to sustainable management, The Korea Herald, the nation’s largest English-language daily, is organizing an invitation-only event under the theme of “Korea’s ESG revolution: Green shoots after the pandemic.”
The forum brings government leaders, business representatives, diplomats and global investors leading the ESG ecosystem together to stage insightful discussions on ESG investment opportunities as well as the latest digital technology being deployed as a new growth engine for the finance industry. We now have reached the time to look beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, and put our heads together for innovation. Please join us on this valuable journey toward a new era of finance and investment.

 Thank you.
